"I sure learned a lot running with those guys!"
August 10, 2012 - Altamahaw, NC - Ace Speedway. Garrett rebounds and takes the pole at Ace Speedway! "After last week, I was just glad to get the car back on the track! The guys at Performancenter Racing Warehouse and my Dad and me worked real hard getting the car back together. We took it out Friday morning and turned some fast laps. I felt good about tonight, but to be honest, I didn't think I was going to get the pole. I was last to go out in qualifying, so I knew what I had to do. I just drove it off in the corner deeper than I had ever done before and the car stuck. I'm real proud of my first career pole in a Late Model Stock Car and I hope to get many more!" While Garrett set fast time, starting on the front row was not to be. Ace Speedway has a policy of inverting the field based upon a random number that is determined by the driver who won the pole - in this case Garrett. Garrett's random selection proved to be a 7! The top SEVEN were inverted. "I was kinda disappointed with the invert. I was hoping to start 1st." With the top seven inverted, Garrett started back in the pack and and drove to 3rd place - his best finish of the year at Ace! "To run with the guys up front and be competitive means a lot to me. Don't get me wrong, I want to win, but I sure learned a lot running with those guys!"
